I’m up early on this Friday morning. In a few minutes, Matilde will be coming out of her cage for forty minutes of romping with her Papa. Not long thereafter, I’ll be off on what already looks like a hot day for a 15-16 miler. (I’ve got to start getting in some longer runs before June’s Rock n’ Roll Marathon.)
I won’t post again until Monday. This afternoon, I’ll be piloting a suitably large van up the winding roads of the San Bernardino Mountains, helping to drive a bunch of All Saints ninth-graders up for a confirmation retreat weekend. Lots of time for prayer, discussion, and a great deal of junk food. Full report next week.
Hope you have fun! 9th graders can be interesting to deal with.
Yeah. Most people want to retreat FROM ninth graders — not WITH ninth graders!
Hugo,
You nut!! Ninth graders?? How do you get yourself into these situations?? Well, one thing is certain, you won’t have a dull moment!
I woke up late today, but I’m headed up the mountain near my house, and afterward, I’m running all the way home.
Have a great retreat!
So, last week’s suger overdose wasn’t enough? Now you’re off on another “lost weekend”. When will you just admit that you have a problem?
Hugo,
When I discovered your site back in Dec. I never thought I would get to like it so much. But sure enough, I’m finding that I can’t go very long without cheking the site and reading your posts and comments. I can’t believe it, I’m turning into a blogger!…I’m hooked!
I think that what you are doing with the kids at All Saint’s is fabulous! To give your time to the youth of the community is not only commendable, but it is exemplary. Last summer, I worked with ninth grade kids from our community and I found it to be extremely rewarding.__ I think that we all need to follow your example and get more involved in our communities.__I hope you had a great weekend!….My quiet weekend alone never materialized. I ended up consoling my oldest daughter after the devastating loss of dear friend at college.__It was actually good to spend some time alone with her.
Don’t give into the temptation and touch them, Hugo. I know your kind.
Sounds great… except the junkfood. Seriously, we all have a hard enough time concentrating on anything these days without having obscene amounts of sugar, caffeine and additives coursing round our bodies… Give the kids a break and feed them properly… ;o)
Which reminds me, I need a retreat.
Well, Steve, we’re having the Central Texas Mennonite Retreat in a couple weeks. I’m in charge of the kitchen, and the only junk food concession I’ve made is for burgers and chips for Saturday’s lunch.
