Just out of curiosity, how was he mistreated? What kind of person or people get such an expensive and labor-intensive pet just to abuse it?
This gal let her kids talk her into buying him for them, but the kids lost interest and the woman kept the chin in her garage, isolated, hot, in a tiny cage. He was underexercised, underfed, but he was tenacious. He’s got a hammock in his cage now, air-conditioning, fresh water, fresh hay… life is sweet.
