Student t-shirt update

Seen on student t-shirts just this morning:

“You’re better looking on Myspace”

“Thank you for last night. What’s your name?”

The student with the latter shirt carefully put on a sweater before coming up to me after class to talk. She might have been cold, but I doubt it.

One of my favorite college professors once wore a pin to class saying “Mind your fucking language.” Another professor, a good friend of his, wore it to her class the next day, but she covered it up with a jacket. I asked her later why. She said some of her students think she’s a bit extreme without the pin, and she didn’t want to push them out of their comfort zones without a good reason.

I tend not to wear T-shirts with words on them, period, because it usually comes across as tacky. Not to say I don’t find some slogans humorous, though. Larknews.com has some absolutely hilarious T-shirt lines, including “Jesus loves you, but then again, he loves everybody,” and “I want to be a pastor’s wife.”
