This blog will be dark until Tuesday, September 25. I’ll be away from the computer, so many comments may languish in moderation for days; forewarned is forearmed and all that.
As I’ve hinted before, we’ll be in Israel for much of this time; we leave tomorrow. A full report will follow upon our return.
have a fantastic time. my trip to israel felt like a homecoming of sorts…safe travels!
Thanks. I do feel as if I am making aliyah, particularly given my father’s Jewish heritage and my own long-standing particpation with the Kabbalah Centre. I’m not claiming Jewishness for myself in any explicit sense, of course.
Safe travels! Your voice will be missed.
I sent you my cell number. Let me know when you hit J-town.
I am curious, shouldn’t you be teaching at your college? Is having tenure really that wonderful? so much that you can take off for a month?
YNWA, I’m not off for a month. I’m off for essentially two weeks, I’ve pro-rated my assignments carefully, I’ve got tons and tons of leave built up, and — of course — what I’m doing here does tie in to my work. My students may miss me less than you imagine, and the amount of work that they will end up missing by the end of the semester is even less than that!
And of course, the High Holy Days don’t match up nicely with the college break calendar.
More important, have you noticed that the dates of your trip coincide closely with the dates the military censors have ordered the media to not publish anything at all without first consulting them due to the sensitive nature of potential operations during this time? What are you really up to, anyway?
