June primary endorsements

For my fellow Californians who will be voting in the second primary of the year tomorrow, please consider voting No on Prop. 98 and yes on Prop. 99. I’m a fourth-generation, third-century Sierra Club Life Member, and always rely on their endorsements: here’s what the club has to say about the two propositions.

As for local, Los Angeles County elections, I stand with the Times on, surprisingly, everything.

If I have any readers in the 4th supervisorial district of Monterey County, please do vote for Jane Parker for supervisor. We desperately need a slow-growth majority on the board of the county I consider one of my homes.

After the excitement of the February presidential primary, and with the eagerly-anticipated general election still five long months away, it’s hard to get excited about this “sandwich vote”. But every vote does count. As for mine, it’ll be cast in the local Republican primary. I may just be the most left-wing Republican in my entire congressional district, and my quixotic effort to help drag the party of Lincoln back to principled moderation will continue.

Ah, moderation. I’m generally opposed to political moderation, as I explain here.

On some issues, Lester, so am I. When it comes to moderating the GOP, however, I’m for it.
