I posted a few weeks ago about how many of the folks in my life tested as ENFP on the Myers-Briggs personality inventory; I just checked the stats on my Facebook page, and of 64 of my friends who have taken the test and posted their results, 33 are ENFP and another 20 are NFs of one kind or another. I may be married to an ESTP, but don’t seem to have many as friends.
Weirdness…
Go ENFPs! woot!
We sure do make ourselves heard.
Are ENFP or ESTP common types? I’m an INTJ, which is supposed to be rather rare. I think my wife is an ESFP.
ENFP is supposed to be 3-4% only…. but like attracts like, I suppose.
I also wonder if it’s possible that there’s a selection bias in people’s behavior. Are certain personality types more likely to take this kind of test (or even this particular test) and post their results for people to see (this is probably trackable)? It looks like you have ~700 friends on Facebook, and fewer than 10% (64) have posted these results, and 4-5% (33) of all your friends are confirmed ENFPs. If there’s something about that personality type that leads to posting this info more often, then that group could well be over-sampled.
You also are open about being an ENFP, so it could be that those who are also ENFP might be more likely to post their results in solidarity.
Also, is there any evidence that certain personality types tend to gravitate toward or away from their own or other personality types with some kind of predictive regularity?
To Tom: I’m an INTJ, so in this comment stream so far, we are 50% of the population…
