This is fascinating - I've never heard this discussed before, by anyone, on the internet or in the flesh. My husband and I were talking about something related the other night...

I'm very glad that you wrote about this. I'm enjoying your posts. Enjoy your blog hiatus.

(I found your blog via DJChuang's I think, recommending your 'form vs content' sexual ethics post.)

Like a lot of women, I enjoy looking at men with nice bodies. I dated a guy with a super sculpted body thanks to his gym obsession. He was such a jerk who disturbed me so much that by the end of the relationship his perfect body only repulsed me. I later fell in love with a guy who called himself "scrawny" - and while he never would have appeared on any Men's Health magazine covers, if he hadn't left me, I gladly would have had that scrawny body all to myself forever. I know there are superficial people out there, but for me, and I assume many others, feelings go so much deeper than our outer shell.

Interesting post. Like Sam, this is one of my favorites of yours in a long time.

i'm definitely like Debbie. I love looking at really perfectly scuplted men with great bodies. I started putting pictures of hotties on my wall when I was in ninth grade. But my first love was very skinny with no muscle. I could beat him up, not that I did. But I didn't care that he wasn't ripped, or that his chest was bony. I could get turned on by him and still get turned on by the sexy celebrity types. And I definitely agree with Jill, Sayyid is very very do-able.

Bottom line (as you like to say, Hugo): I can be attracted to many different types. And like Debbie, my desire isn't conditional on perfection.,

Hugo,

wow, you're actually a human being ;). And appently you believe that it is possible to compartmentalize to a degree. Good for future disagreements ;) Arguing in shades of grey is much more interesting than constrasting opinions in black and white. My favorite post of yours.
