I’ve had people ask me, “Okay, but if you’re a vegetarian, what do you eat on Thanksgiving?”

“What do YOU eat on Thanksgiving?” I “answer” with a smile.

“Turkey!”

“Okay…anything else?”

“Sure! Mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, corn…”

“Okay, that’s what I have.”

A pause.

“OHHHHHHHHHH…”

I don’t know if you find this as often in California as I happen to in my small farming community of a home town in Iowa, but every time I mention that I am going to my sister’s for vegan thanksgiving, the responses range from “how the hell are you supposed to have thanksgiving without meat” to “whats a vegan?” Im interested in what you feasted upon this year.
